Descripción: A spreading colony of the Tenacibaculum litopenaei type strain grown of blood agar displays peacock feather- or rainbow-like iridescence. This phenomenon, that only occurs on some growth media and under a certain angle of incidence of light, has been shown to result from a special arrangement of bacterial cells at the microscopic level.
