The Course of Initiation to Research in Microbiology Profesor J.R. Villanueva It is organized annually by the Spanish Society of Microbiology (SEM), through the specialized group of Teaching and Diffusion of Microbiology with the collaboration of universities and research centers, which act as headquarters, which is itinerant. The working group for young researchers JISEM collaborates in the organization of the Course, taking care of the management of applications, acting as a point of contact and contributing to the dissemination of the course in their networks.

This edition is organized by the Spanish Society of Microbiology (SEM) and the University of Jaén. As on previous occasions, it will have the sponsorship of the Ramón Areces Foundation. It will be held in person at the Antonio Machado headquarters of the International University of Andalusia, in Baeza, from June 12 to 16, 2025 and is aimed at students from the last two degrees of grade, fundamentally in the areas of the sciences of life and health and others related to microbiology.

Registration is done through this registration form from March 3 to 31, 2025. As indicated in this form, a letter of introduction and endorsement from a professor or professional member of the SEM will also be required.

The complete support, registration and stay expenses of the selected students will be paid by the organization. In addition, acceptance for the course is an important incentive for the students participating in it: to be a member of the Spanish Society of Microbiology (SEM) for free and free registration in the SEM Congress after presenting a communication.
