The Course of Initiation to Research in Microbiology Profesor J.R. Villanueva It is organized annually by the Spanish Society of Microbiology (SEM), through the specialized group of Teaching and Diffusion of Microbiology with the collaboration of universities and research centers, which act as headquarters, which is itinerant. The working group for young researchers JISEM collaborates in the organization of the Course, taking care of the management of applications, acting as a point of contact and contributing to the dissemination of the course in their networks.

The XXV Microbiology Research Initiation Course Professor J. R. Villanueva It is number XXVII and is organized by the SEM and the University of Valencia, through the group specialized in Teaching and Dissemination of Microbiology.

Registration is done through this The venue for the course will be the National Museum of Natural Sciences and the students on the course will stay in the historic Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid (in the central headquarters of the CSIC). The costs of full maintenance, registration and stay of the selected students will be covered by the organization. from March 1 to 25, 2024. It will be held in person in the Botanical Garden of the University of Valencia from July 8 to 11, 2024 and is aimed at students in the last two years of the Degree, mainly in the areas of Life and Health Sciences and others related to Microbiology.

The full living expenses, registration and stay of the selected students will be covered by the organization. Furthermore, acceptance for the course represents an important incentive for the students participating in it: being a member of the Spanish Society of Microbiology (SEM) for one year free of charge.
