XXVIII National Congress of Microbiology / June 28 - July 2, 2021

We are pleased to inform you that the virtual National Congress (https://congresosem21.es/) has had a fantastic reception, since there are currently registered more than 800 participants and they will be presented almost 500 communications. Another noteworthy fact is that the 102 FEMS grants awarded have allowed the free registration of all young members who requested them. As you may have seen on the Congress website, The deadline for paying the registration with a reduced fee has been extended until 24:00 on June 5 (GMT +1). After evaluating the communications received, the papers that will be presented in the different sessions have been selected, so the program that appears on the website will be updated soon. Said oral communications will be presented in three different formats:

  • oral communications (15 minutes), which will be presented in the three parallel sessions scheduled at the beginning of each day;
  • flash oral communications (5 minutes), which will be presented in the three parallel sessions scheduled from 12:30 to 13:30 from Monday to Thursday;
  • e-posters 3 minutes, available for viewing on the platform from the beginning of the Congress.

The tools of the virtual platform will allow the communication of the participants with the authors. All communications, including invited papers and the Closing Conference, will be pregrabadas, to minimize the possible technical problems that could occur during the development of the Congress. A moderator will be in charge of directing each session, which will begin with the viewing of the corresponding recordings and will end with a round of questions and debate. The speakers will be connected live throughout the session in which they participate, and the moderator will be in charge of transmitting the questions that the attendees send through the chat in the virtual room.

We remind you that You must upload your recordings to the Platform before Friday, June 11, but since we imagine that you have many doubts about the procedure to follow, we take advantage of this newsletter to give you some simple instructions.

First, you must select your summary, and then choose between recording a video on the congress platform (4ID Play) or uploading one already recorded on another platform (Zoom or similar). In the latter case, you can click on the option "Choose a video" or simply drag the file to that area. If, on the other hand, you decide to record the communication in 4ID Play, you will have to choose between the three recording options offered by the system:

a) record screen and audio;

b) record camera and audio;

c) record screen and camera.

When you start recording, a counter appears in the upper right corner of the screen, showing the elapsed seconds. When you stop recording, you can review the video, and if you re-record, the counter will start from zero. That is, before accepting the recording, you can review the video, re-record it if you don't like it, and even download it to your computer. When you accept the recording, the video will be processed by 4ID for presentation in the corresponding session.

We hope that this congress of our 75th Anniversary will be a complete success!

THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
