Human Microbiome: its implication in Health (MHS)
The course is aimed at all those Microbiologists interested in the field of knowledge of the human microbiome.
The teachers of this Course are doctors in Biology, Biomedicine, Biochemistry and Bioinformatics who, thanks to our training and our teaching and research experience in biosanitary issues, we hope to have prepared a pleasant and simple syllabus that you find interesting and you can follow without difficulty whatever be your training.
If you are interested in this training and want to know all the details about its content and operation, you can do so by sending an email to the course coordinators (Ana Mª García, Diego A. Moreno)
goals
The purpose of this Course is to learn the meaning, importance and influence of the different types of microbiota that coexist with the human being both in health and in different pathologies. Through a better understanding of the interaction of the human microbiota and its relationship with our pathophysiology, new biomarkers could be found with potential applications in the prevention, molecular diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of different diseases. All this focused on individualized treatment of patients and precision medicine, which is ultimately where biomedical research and medicine are headed. The learning objectives of the Course are:
- Understand and distinguish the concepts of microbiome, microbiota and metagenomics.
- Know the different molecular biology techniques, both previous and current, that allow studying the microorganisms that make up a microbial community and are related to humans.
- Acquire knowledge about the interactions between the different types of microbiota and their host in different pathophysiological situations.
- Be aware of the potential prevention mechanisms and clinical applications that can be put into practice through modulation and modification of the microbiota, especially the intestinal one.
