Frequent questions

In principle, anyone interested in Microbiology can take the SEM Courses online, although obviously to follow them you must have certain minimum notions of Microbiology. The courses are designed for Graduates, Graduates or Engineers but are also accessible to undergraduates, FPI, technical personnel of companies, or those who use the tools of Microbiology in their daily activity and wish to complement their training in this area.
Evaluation. The evaluation will be continuous by carrying out online Test-type exams for each of the Didactic Units that make up the syllabus of each course. Certificate of Aptitude. Students who have followed any of the courses and demonstrate their aptitude by completing the exercises in a timely manner and passing the online exams are entitled to a CERTIFICATE OF FITNESS in DIPLOMA format. All online SEM Courses have been approved by the Board of Directors of the Spanish Society of Microbiology, for this reason the Diploma awarded is an SEM Diploma.
The online SEM Courses are equivalent to 4 ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer System). One ECTS credit is equivalent to 25 hours of academic work per student. For those courses in which accreditation has been requested from the Commission for Continuing Training of Health Professions of the Community of Madrid, the corresponding ECTS credits are pending confirmation.
Price. The price per course is 250 euros. For members of the Spanish Society of Microbiology it is 150 euros. The price includes access to the course documentation online, completion of the exercises and evaluations, the corresponding Diploma and access to scholarships awarded for academic performance. Scholarships For each course, 10% scholarships will be awarded (1 scholarship for every 10 students enrolled), consisting of a full refund of tuition to those students who have obtained the best results at the end of the course.
Pre-registration. Anyone interested in taking the online SEM Courses must send their information to Ana M. Garcia. Pre-registration is open all year round and there is no closing date, but it is recommended to do so as soon as possible given that there is a limit on the number of students admitted per course, and the order of preference is that of pre-registration. Registration and Payment. Once the pre-registration has been completed and accepted by the SEM Online Courses Secretariat, the student will be informed by e-mail of the instructions to follow to formalize their registration and make the payment. Payment must be paid before the start date of the Course.
For the BSMA (Biotechnology and Microbiological Safety of Foods), MCC (Microbiology and Conservation of Cosmetics) and MHS (Human Microbiome: its implication in Health) courses, Accreditation has been requested from the Commission for Continuing Education of Health Professions of the National Health System (Health Commission of the Community of Madrid).
The online SEM Courses can be subsidized by FUNDAE, we have installed on the Moodle Platform the plugin with the requirements requested by FUNDAE: generate participant activity reports and access to the inspection. However, the management of the bonus must be done by the company and before the start of the course.
