Letter from the Filamentous Fungi and Yeasts (HFL) Specialized Group

Dear partners:

I am contacting you to inform you that the call for the 2024 national Mycology Congress, which was scheduled to be held next September in Zaragoza, has been delayed to March 2025 at the same venue.

The national Mycology congresses are biannual and joint (HFL group, Filamentous Fungi and Yeasts + AEM group, Spanish Association of Mycology), both groups take turns, so that the turn of the organization this year falls to AEM. The headquarters and organization were decided at the last Mycology Congress held in Valencia in 2022.

For various reasons, it seems that the Zaragoza organizing group has suffered a severe delay in the organizational aspects required to carry out a successful congress. So, after an assessment meeting with all the members of the scientific committee, among which we find the members of the Board of Directors of the SEM specialized group HFL, the AEM has issued the statement that

From the Board of Directors of our group we want to convey our apologies on behalf of the Board of Directors of the AEM (we attach the letter issued for this purpose), and also as a Board, we want to tell you that we deeply regret this event. However, we also want to inform you of our desire for you to continue with your intention to participate in the national Mycology congress next month.
March 20 to 22, 2025.

In principle, we will try to maintain the scientific programming that had been organized by both groups for September 2024 and that many of you had already consulted previously. In any case, we will inform you promptly of all the news that the AEM transmits to us in relation to the 2025 congress.

We want to emphasize that the participation of young researchers is of special relevance in this conference.

AEM letter

Dear partners,

We inform you that due to logistical and organizational problems, we have decided to postpone the National Mycology Congress that was scheduled for September in Zaragoza. This decision has not been easy. We have evaluated all possible alternatives to maintain the original dates, but the current situation compromised the quality of the congress.

Our commitment is to offer you an event that lives up to the previous ones and the expectations and prestige of our societies. After consulting with the members of the boards of directors of both societies and reviewing the events scheduled in the coming months, we have set the new dates for the congress of March 20-22, 2025.

We apologize for the lack of information so far and for any inconvenience this change may cause you. We have worked hard to avoid this situation, but ultimately, we have had to make this difficult decision for everyone.

We appreciate your understanding and support in these difficult times and we hope to have your presence in Zaragoza in March next year.
