Acinetobacter swarming
Published 10/7/2016
Acinetobacter is a genus of non-motile bacteria (typical movement mediated by flagella), but it is capable of moving on solid surfaces using the contractility of its secretion systems. The photograph shows a plate of “swarmming” medium where a strain of Acinetobacter has moved describing a characteristic movement of these bacteria. The photograph has been scanned from the original plate with an HP 4100 scanner.
