DESCRIPTION OF OFFER:
The Microbial Genomics Unit of the Biomedicine Institute of Valencia (IBV-CSIC) offers
a position of “Laboratory technician in molecular microbiology”. This position includes
within the project PID2023-152061NA-I00 financed by the call for Projects
Knowledge Generation 2023 of the State Research Agency. The candidate
The chosen person will work under the direction of Dr Francesc Coll, head of the Research Unit.
Microbial Genomics at the IBV-CSIC.
REQUIREMENTS:
Be in possession of any of the following Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree or degree in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry or similar disciplines.
- Higher Technician within the framework of vocational training of the educational system.
Have practical experience in:
- Organization and management of a molecular microbiology laboratory. (essential)
- Management of orders and inventory of consumables and reagents. (essential)
- Maintenance and review of the proper functioning of laboratory equipment. (essential).
- Microbiology techniques: preparation of bacterial culture media, growth curves, antimicrobial susceptibility tests, etc. (essential)
- Management of BLS2 pathogens, and monitoring of protocols, procedures and good biosafety practices in BLS2 laboratories. (essential)
- Organization, maintenance and preservation of collections of bacterial isolates. (essential).
- Monitoring and development of new standard work procedures for phenotypic assays. (desirable)
- Techniques for extraction, purification and quality evaluation of nucleic acids in automatic or manual systems. (desirable)
- Preparation of libraries for massive sequencing (RNAseq, WGS). (desirable)
- Cloning, PCR and transformation methods for the generation of mutants. (desirable)
- Training of students in molecular microbiology techniques. (desirable)
The candidate is expected to meet most, but not necessarily all, of the requirements listed above.
