A postdoctoral contract is offered to work in the laboratory of "Molecular Mechanisms of Biological Adaptation" directed by Eduardo González-Pastor at the Center for Astrobiology (CSIC-INTA, Madrid), within the framework of the BlueTools project (HORIZON 2020).
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
El proyecto postdoctoral consistirá en el estudio de estrategias moleculares de adaptación a la radiación UV y/o desecación en comunidades microbianas en ambientes extremos mediante enfoques "ómicos".
The BLUETOOLS project (Innovative tools for sustainable exploration of marine microbiomes: towards a circular blue bioeconomy and healthier marine environments) aims to explore the potential of marine microbiomes and extreme aquatic environments by integrating different disciplines to develop cutting-edge tools that allow the rapid, efficient and sustainable exploration and exploitation of microbiomes, avoiding the drawbacks of conventional “biodiscovery” practices. Fourteen companies and academic groups from Spain, Denmark, Norway, Hungary, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Israel are collaborating on this project.
CONTRACT PERIOD
2 to 3 years, from the end of 2023.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
The successful candidate must have a PhD in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or equivalent and is expected to have a strong background in molecular and cell biology and microbiology. The applicant must have excellent oral and written skills in English.
CONTACT
Applications must be sent by email to Eduardo González-Pastor (gonzalezpje@cab.inta-csic.es) and must include a cover letter expressing interest in this position, CV and names and contact details of two or three researchers who can provide references on the candidate.
