Offer to apply for Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral contract in Bee Hologenomics at the UPV/EHU
We are looking for a candidate with experience in (meta)-genomics/bioinformatics or in microbial ecology/microbiology or similar to apply for a postdoctoral contract within the Juan de la Cierva program offered by the Ministry of Science and Innovation in the 2024 call.
The candidate will join the Applied Genomics and Bioinformatics research group of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) led by Dr. Iratxe Zarraonaindia to collaborate in the European project BEEGUARDS (Horizon Europe,
2023-2027).
The main objective of BEEGUARDS is to provide alternative and sustainable solutions based on innovative beekeeping management that promotes the resistance of bees to varroa. This mite and its associated viruses are the main culprits of the large annual losses within the beekeeping sector worldwide. In the Applied Genomics and Bioinformatics group (UPV/EHU) we will identify the combinations of microbiome+genome (holobiome) that favor the resilience of bees subject to different environments and management.
The BeeGuards consortium is made up of 27 partners from 15 countries, including universities, research institutes and technology companies, so the candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with international researchers, participate in workshops and international conferences.
Interested parties send CV as soon as possible to iratxe.zarraonaindia@ehu.es. The deadline for submitting applications to the State Research Agency ends on 01/24/2025.
