Salary: The remuneration of the contract will be a gross annual salary distributed in twelve monthly installments of €1,478.16 during the first year, €1,583.74 during the second year, and €1,979.67 during the third year.

A 36-month predoctoral contract is offered to carry out the doctoral thesis related to the problem of antibiotic resistance in agricultural environments exposed to biosolids, within the framework of the BIORISK project (Interaction of chemical and microbiological pollutants in the biosolid-soil-plant system. Agricultural and human health risks) funded by MCIN/AEI/ 10.13039/501100011033. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with an interest in microbiology and/or chemistry and food safety. The candidate will develop a project aimed at mitigating the growing concern about contaminants in agriculture due to the use of biosolids as fertilizers. The project consists of 4 main objectives: i) field-scale studies to determine the impact of the application of biosolids on crop performance and the absorption of chemical and microbiological contaminants, ii) greenhouse studies to evaluate the interaction of contaminants chemical and microbiological in the biosolid-soil-plant system, iii) evaluation of different agricultural practices to mitigate the absorption of contaminants from biosolids by plants.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to perform laboratory and field work and will receive training to use cutting-edge technologies to carry out experiments.

Searched profile

Research Field or Area of ​​Knowledge: Microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences or related areas.

Qualifications and Level of Studies: University Degree and Master's Degree. Official university studies with a minimum of 300 ECTS credits, of which at least 60 are at Master's level. The selected person will have to enroll in a doctoral program at the University of Barcelona.

Skills: Capacity for multidisciplinary teamwork and research, work autonomy, rigorous and methodical. Driving license

Required Languages: Spanish and English.

Required Experience: Laboratory experience in Molecular Biology techniques and/or analytical chemistry.
