Predoctoral Contract in Molecular Biology of Infections
We invite applications to apply for a predoctoral contract (4 years) in the Molecular Biology of Infections MIB lab (CNB, Madrid) led by Daniel López. This laboratory investigates the molecular and cellular mechanisms of bacteria necessary to develop infections and acquire resistance to antibiotics.
The research project in which the contract is framed proposes to characterize the functional membrane microdomains (FMM) of the human pathogen MRSA (Staphylococcus aureus methicillin resistant). This characterization will be carried out at a structural and functional level. At a structural level, we will use cutting-edge electron microscopy (cryo-EM) techniques to reveal how these microdomains form in the membrane of bacteria. At a functional level, we will use conventional molecular and cellular biology techniques to determine what its biological function is, with emphasis on the pathogenesis and antibiotic resistance of this bacteria.
We are looking for motivated researchers with an excellent track record and solid training in molecular microbiology or cell biology. It is not critical to have experience with pathogens. Candidates must demonstrate experience in hypothesis-based laboratory research and the scientific method.
The MIB lab is a reference laboratory in Molecular Biology of Infections that offers a vibrant work environment both technically and intellectually. We have a team made up of staff researchers, experienced doctors and predoctoral researchers, which provides the necessary support to carry out the projects. Our research projects are located at the frontier of knowledge, so we always seek to incorporate researchers with a high capacity to interpret and generate data. Generally, profiles associated with molecular biology and structural biology fit very well, as well as those related to molecular genetics, biochemistry or classical microbiology.
Applications must include the CV with academic references contact in a single PDF file sent to dlopez@cnb.csic.es before November 1, 2024.
