We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person to contribute to a research project, Metpro. The project is funded within the framework of the State Program to Promote Scientific-Technical Research and its Transfer, within the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021-2023. The objective of the project is to prove the viability of a metanotrophic microbial community aerobic to produce proteins. The main tasks will be the performance of laboratory tasks, including the assembly and operation of two bioreactors for the enrichment of a bacterial community from sewage sludge. Monitoring of the operation of the reactor and molecular analysis, including DNA extractions and protein analysis.

Principal functions

Performance of laboratory tasks that include assembly and operation of two bioreactors for the enrichment of a bacterial community based on purification muds. Monitoring of the operation of the reactors and molecular analysis and analysis of the different chemical parameters to monitor the operation of the bioreactors.

Searched profile

Research Field or Area of ​​Knowledge: Environmental Engineering or Chemistry, Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences or similar.

Qualifications and Level of Studies: University Degree and Master's Degree. The selected person will have to enroll in a doctoral program at the University of Girona.

Skills: Capacity for multidisciplinary teamwork and research, work autonomy, rigorous and methodical. Driving license

Required Languages: Spanish and English.

Required Experience: Experience in research environments, experience or knowledge of bioreactor operation, experience in writing technical reports or scientific articles, experience in presenting scientific/technical results, preferably in English.

Desirable: Previous experience in operation of laboratory bioreactors and experience in molecular biology will be assessed.
