Search offer for a predoctoral candidate in order to attend the PFIS call (ISCIII) in the next Strategic Action in Health.
Project title:
AURIZOON – Genomic and microbiological surveillance of community-acquired Candida auris: thermal evolution, zoonotic emergency and antifungal resistance from a One Health perspective.
Center: La Fe Health Research Institute (IIS La Fe), Valencia
Principal Investigator: Dr. Victor García Bustos
Brief description of the project:
The AURIZOON project addresses the emergency of Candidozyma auris from a One Health approach, integrating human, animal and environmental health. The objective is to study its possible zoonotic and environmental origin, the mechanisms of thermal adaptation and antifungal resistance through microbiological surveillance and complete genomic sequencing (WGS) in clinical, animal and environmental samples. The project combines clinical microbiology, mycology, genomics, bioinformatics and epidemiology, in the context of one of the largest European outbreaks described.
Candidate profile:
- Graduate in Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedicine, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine or related degrees.
- Master's degree in areas related to microbiology, infectious diseases, public health, One Health or genomics (PFIS requirement).
- Interest in translational research in emerging pathogens and antifungal resistance.
- Previous experience in microbiology, mycology, molecular techniques and/or bioinformatics, presentations at conferences and previous scientific articles, if any, will be valued (not essential).
Conditions:
PFIS predoctoral contract (ISCIII), linked to a competitive AES project, with the possibility of multidisciplinary training and national and international collaborations.
