Integrated protection and management of bacterial and fungal diseases in woody crops (fruit, vineyard, olive and citrus).
The research field of the group is circumscribed in the epidemiology and integrated management of emerging diseases (decay and drought caused by Xylella fastidiosa) and re-emergents (fire blight, bacterial canker and necrosis). Specifically, the lines of research are aimed at the development of new innovative and sustainable tools for the integrated management of emerging plant diseases. More specifically, these strategies are based on: (i) the development, evaluation, and validation of infection risk prediction models, and guidance on the ideal times to apply treatments, and (ii) the development and application of new biopesticides of low toxicity based on microorganisms and functional peptides (antimicrobials and elicitors of defenses). As well as the implementation of platforms for the production of peptides (synthesis and biofactories) and biopesticide microorganisms.
