Award for the best Doctoral Research Thesis in Taxonomy, Phylogeny and Diversity

Granted by the Specialized Group on Taxonomy, Phylogeny and Diversity, belonging to the Spanish Society of Microbiology, for the best Doctoral Thesis of the specialty defended in the years 2024 and 2025.

Bases:

  1. The candidates must be members of the SEM and members of the Taxonomy, Phylogeny and Diversity Group at the time of submission of the candidacy.
  2. Only Doctoral Theses defended between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2025 will be taken into consideration.
  3. The awarded person must expose a summary of your work at the next meeting of the Specialized Group on Taxonomy, Phylogeny and Diversity, TAXON VLC 2026, which will be held in Valencia on September 24 to 26, and where the official award ceremony will take place.
  4. The prize will be endowed with 500 euros and a accrediting diploma. It will also cover the inscription to the meeting mentioned in the previous base.
  5. The documentation to be presented by the candidates will consist of a copy of the Doctoral Thesis, an official document that certifies the date of defense of the Thesis, and the course of life
  6. Said documentation, in pdf format, must be sent by email al Dr. David R. Arahal (arahal@uv.es), President of the Specialized Group on Taxonomy, Phylogeny and Diversity, indicating in the issue TFD Thesis Award.
  7. The term of nominations will end on May 15, 2026.
  8. The candidatures will be evaluated by a jury made up of members of the scientific committee coordinated by the President of the specialized Group. The jury's decision will be announced to applicants by email during the month following the end of the submission period.
  9. Exceptionally, a consolation prize (diploma and free registration) if the quality of the works presented justifies it.
