MICROBIOLOGY: EXPLORING BEYOND THE VISIBLE
As part of the celebrations of its 75th anniversary, the SEM is collaborating with the National Museum of Natural Sciences (MNCN-CSIC) in the organization of the exhibition “Microbiology: exploring beyond the visible”, Which will be held next fall at the aforementioned Museum, located on José Gutiérrez Abascal street in Madrid.
We inaugurate the exhibition on September 9, 2021 and during the three months of its duration, microorganisms will be the protagonists of the Museum and its activities, some of which will be broadcast in real time so that everyone can participate.

The main objective of this exhibition is to promote knowledge in society about microorganisms and highlight their uniqueness and the important role they play in our lives. Its detrimental effects will be shown, but above all the aim is to highlight its peaceful coexistence with the majority of living beings on the planet, as well as its beneficial effects or the numerous processes of our daily life in which they participate. Lastly, its biotechnological and biomedical contributions and its enormous potential to facilitate more sustainable development and improve our quality of life will also be highlighted. Different activities such as a series of conferences and round tables (Microbiology in the Anthropocene era, financed through the CSIC Foundation's “Cuenta la Ciencia” call) and various training activities and workshops for young people and children, also held at the Museum of Natural Sciences, will complement the exhibition.
